Chef Johan ”Guzz” Gustafsson is a legend in the culinary world of Marstrand, the scenic sailing and leizure island just outside of Sweden second largest city Gothenburg. There he runs the popular seafood and shellfish restaurant Mama’s in the harbor of Marstrand.

Chef Johan Gustafsson born in 1967, has a good and long history as a chef in Gothenburg, one of Scandinavias largest cities, the second in Sweden. He started working in some of the most acclaimed restaurants in Gothenburg like Brasserie Lipp, Restaurant Christina, Fiskkrogen and Långedrags Wärdshus before he took a position as the Excutive Chef at the Grand Hotel of Marstrand. Marstrand offers a host of coastal attractions and is a former spa town once regularly frequented be Sweden’s royal family.

He was at Grand Hotel for 12 years until he opened his own restaurant Mama’s on the harborsite of Marstrand which emphazise on seafood and shellfish. The restaurant is great success – ”the hottest place” in Marstrand. He consider himself as an oysters freak.

Johann Gustafsson is a member of the active group of chefs, ”The Gothenburg Chefs” which proudly promotes and stimulate the culture of Swedish fish and shellfish both from the lakes and the sea as the healthy Nordic food tradition. He is also a member of the European Chefs Association, ”Euro Toques”.

He has in many occasions hosted Carl Gustav the king of Sweden and other prominent personalities from both Scandinavia and Europe.
